Spell Changes from the Basegame

Spell Changes:

The Rise of Neverwinter is a heavily modified version of Neverwinter Nights 2. Many of the spells has been changed to better reflect the vision of the server. In this document you can find an overview of these changes.

Divine spell changes:
- Aura of Vitality: Bonus increased to +8
- Blade Barrier: Maximum increased to 20d6.
- Bombardment: Maximum damage increased to 15d6
- Castigate: Maximum increased to 20d4
- Creeping Cold: If you fail the save you will furthermore have your movement speed reduced. (30%)
- Crumble: Damage increased to d10 pr level. Removed max scaling.
- Cure Minor Wounds: Changed to 1d8. Level bonus now capped at 10
- Cure Light Wounds: Changed to 2d8. Level bonus now capped at 15
- Cure Moderate Wounds: Changed to 3d8. Level bonus now capped at 20
- Cure Serious Wounds: Changed to 4d8. Level bonus now capped at 25
- Cure Critical Wounds: Changed to 6d8. Level bonus now capped at 40
- Death Knell: Changed to 1d4 every 2 caster Levels for both damage and temp hit points.
- Drown: Can now maximum give 200 damage
- Earthquake: Knockdown reflex save increased from dc 15 to dc 20. Damage changed to 1d8 points for every 2 levels with no maximum.
- Greater Creeping Cold: If you fail the save you will furthermore have your movement speed reduced. (50%)
- Greater Magic Weapon: Is now 60 seconds pr. level.
- Glyph of Warding: Maximum cap increased to 10d8.
- Hammer of the Gods: Now deals 1d10 for every three caster levels but has no maximum cap.
- Harm: Now inflicts 8 points pr. level to a maximum of 250.
- Heal: Now heals 8 points pr. level to a maximum of 250.
- Heal, Mass: Now heals 8 points pr. level to a maximum of 250.
- Hypothermia: Maximum increased to 15d6
- Inferno: Damage increased to 1d6 fire for every 6 caster levels.
- Inflict Minor Wounds: Changed to 1d8. Level bonus now capped at 10
- Inflict Light Wounds: Changed to 2d8. Level bonus now capped at 15
- Inflict Moderate Wounds: Changed to 3d8. Level bonus now capped at 20
- Inflict Serious Wounds: Changed to 4d8. Level bonus now capped at 25
- Inflict Critical Wounds: Changed to 6d8. Level bonus now capped at 40
- Mass Drown: Can now maximum give 200 damage
- Owl’s Insight: Changed so that it gives 1d6 +1 to wisdom, like an improved Owl’s Wisdom. Can be empowered and maximized.
- Regeneration: Clerics now cast this as a level 5 Spell, druids as a level 7 spell. The regenerate effect is stronger the more maximum hitpoints the
target has. (10 for less than 300 hp, 4% until 510 hp and then 10% )
- Searing Light: Undead changed to 1d10 every 2 levels with no cap. Construct max cap changed to 10d4. Other max cap raised to 10d8.
- Sound Burst: Damage changed to 1d8 every 6 caster levels.
- Sunbeam: Maximum damage increased to 30d6. All other monster’s damage increased to 5d6.
- Tortoise Shell: Spell totally changed. Now lasts 1 round pr. level and gives +1 Natural AC for every 3 levels maxing out at +5. It also gives 10
Damage reduction only bypassed by Adamantium for the full duration of the spell.

Save increasing spells:
- Resistance: 1 min/level
- Greater Resistance: 5 rounds/level
- Superior Resistance: 2/rounds/level

General Changes:
Summons:
- All summons but “Animate dead, and Create Undead” are changed so that the duration is 60 seconds per level, including Create Greater
Undead, Mordenkainen’s Sword etc.
- Special for the spell “Gate”: duration is 30 seconds per level.
- Planar Bindings will get their summons changed to match the theme of the server. The summons might change over time.

Spell mantles:
- All Spell Mantles have had their duration increased to 30 seconds per level.

Buff Spells:
- Bear’s Endurance: Now gives 1d4+1 and can be empowered, and maximized as well. Duration increased to 1 hour /level
- Bull’s Strength: Now gives 1d4+1 and can be empowered, and maximized as well Duration increased to 1 hour /level
- Cat’s Grace: Now gives 1d4+1 and can be empowered, and maximized as well Duration increased to 1 hour /level
- Eagle’s Splendor: Now gives 1d4+1 and can be empowered, and maximized as well Duration increased to 1 hour /level
- Fox’s Cunning: Now gives 1d4+1 and can be empowered, and maximized as well Duration increased to 1 hour /level
- Owl’s Wisdom: Now gives 1d4+1 and can be empowered, and maximized as well Duration increased to 1 hour /level
- Mass Bear’s Endurance: Now gives 1d4+1 and can be empowered, and maximized as well
- Mass Bull’s Strength: Now gives 1d4+1 and can be empowered, and maximized as well
- Mass Cat’s Grace: Now gives 1d4+1 and can be empowered, and maximized as well
- Mass Eagle’s Splendor: Now gives 1d4+1 and can be empowered, and maximized as well
- Mass Fox’s Cunning: Now gives 1d4+1 and can be empowered, and maximized as well
- Mass Owl’s Wisdom: Now gives 1d4+1 and can be empowered, and maximized as well

Changes to Epic Spells:
- Epic Spell no longer gives a flat +5 bonus to DC. Instead they give +3, but spell focus feats increases their DC. A character with Epic Spell Focus on the right school can therefor reach a bonus of +6, 1 higher than the vanilla game of +5.
- Epic Spells can now be used as long as you have Mana to cast them.
- Epic Gate: Duration increased to 60 rounds.
- Hellball: The four elemental damages are increased to 15d6 damage instead of 10d6


Arcane and other Spells changed:
- Acid Fog: Initial damaged increased to 6d6 and every round after that is now 3d6
- Animate Dead: can now only summon the skeleton.
- Balagarn’s Iron Horn: People are now knocked down for 2 rounds instead of 1. Strength raised to 24 instead of 20
- Battletide: Remove haste effect from spell. Add in Damage reduction 5/Adamantium
- Blackstaff: Duration increased to 30 seconds per level.
- Blades of Fire: Duration increased to 5 minutes.
- Bestow Curse: Now lowers ability scores by 4 instead of 2
- Bigby’s Clenched Fist: Damage increased to 2d8+1 for every 2 caster levels.
- Bigby’s Crushing Hand: Damage increased to 3d6+1 for every 2 caster levels.
- Burning Hands: damage changed to a maximum of 7d4
- Burst of Glacial Wrath: maximum damage increased to 35d6. Creatures reduced to 50 hit points or less are now encased in ice. Frozen Rounds
reduced to 5.
- Cacophonic Burst: damage changed to a maximum of 20d6
- Chain Lightning: damage changed to a maximum of 25d6
- Circle of Death: HD of unaffected creatures raised to creatures with 12 or more HD.
- Combust: Maximum raised to +15 instead of +10
- Cone of Cold: damage changed to a maximum of 20d6
- Death Armor: damage changed from a maximum of +5 to a maximum of +10
- Delayed Blast Fireball: damage changed to a maximum of 25d6
- Deep Slumber: Now affects 20 HD of creatures instead of 10+1d10. Cannot affect creatures of HD 11 or higher
- Devour Magic: Max Bonus increased to +20
- Disintegrate: If it kills the target, there will be no body to raise. On a successful save, the damage is now increased to 10d6.
- Dispel Magic: maximum of +10 raised to +15.
- Divine Favor: Increase Maximum bonus to +5 ab and +5 magical Damage which will then be reached at lvl 15. Change duration to 1 round /lvl.
- Divine Power: Remove Base Attack Bonus increase. Change so that it gives +2d4+2 STR instead of +6. Give it +1 Divine damage/ at every 6th
caster lvl for a total of +5 Divine Damage at lvl 30.
- Dominate Animal: Duration increased to 60 seconds per level.
- Energy Drain: Now has a fortitude save
- Energy Immunity: Duration reduced to 1 hour per level. Now absorbs all energy damage from any energy source up to 10 damage pr. Caster Level.
- Enervation: Now has a fortitude save
- Ethereal Visage: Duration increased to 30 seconds per level.
- Evard’s Black Tentacles: Damage increased to: 1d8+5. AB of tentacles raised to +7
- Extract Water Elemental: The summon now stays for 10 minutes instead of 1.
- False Life: Maximum raised to +20 instead of +10
- Feeblemind: Duration changed to 60 seconds / 2 levels
- Finger of Death: Damage when target succeed their save increased to 5d6+1 point per caster level.
- Fireball: damage changed to a maximum of 15d6
- Fireburst: damage changed to a maximum of 6d8
- Firebrand: damage changed to a maximum of 20d6
- Flame Arrow: Arrow damage raised to 4d6+4
- Gedlee’s Electric Loop: damage changed to a maximum of 8d6.
- Glass Doppelganger: Duration changed to 60 seconds per level
- Globe of Invulnerability: Duration increased to 30 seconds per level.
- Greater Dispel Magic: maximum increased to +20. Spell Focus feats in Abjuration can increase this further up to a total of +30 with Epic Spell
Focus Abjuration!
- Greater Fireburst: damage changed to a maximum of 18d8
- Greater Heroism: Duration reduced to 30 seconds per level
- Greater Shout: Damage Increased to 15d6
- Heroism: Duration changed to 1 hour per level.
- Hold Monster: Changed so that you don’t get rolls to break free every turn after failing.
- Hold Person: Changed so that you don’t get rolls to break free every turn after failing.
- Horrid Wilting: Maximum damage is now 30d6.
- Ice Storm: Initial damage raised to 4d6 bludgeoning damage and 3d6 cold damage
- Incendiary Cloud: Damaged increased to 8d6
- Iron Body: Changed duration to 1 round per level. No longer makes you immune to critical hits. The damage reduction has been changed to
40/Adamantium
- Isaac’s Greater Missile Storm: maximum number of missiles changed to 20 - no limit on how many can hit one target.
- Isaac’s Lesser Missile Storm: maximum number of missiles changed to 20 - no limit on how many can hit one target.
- Lightning Bolt: damage changed to a maximum of 15d6
- Lesser Globe of Invulnerability: Duration changed to 30 seconds per level.
- Magic Missile: maximum missiles raised to 7
- Mass Hold Person: Changed so that you don’t get rolls to break free every turn after failing.
- Mass Hold Monster: Changed so that you don’t get rolls to break free every turn after failing.
- Melf’s Acid Arrow: Initial damage changed to 5d6
- Mestil’s Acid Breath: damage changed to a maximum of 15d6
- Meteor Storm: Damage increased:
Aerial attack 30d6, 16d6 and 10d6.
Single target: maximum of 40d6
Centered on caster: 12d6
- Mirror Images is now a level 6 spell for Sorcerers and Wizards and a level 3 spell for Bards. The amount of images is now decided by a 2d4 roll
with a dice. It can be both empowered and maximized.
- Phantasmal Killer: damage when target saves increased to 6d6
- Polar Ray: Damage increased to a maximum of 35d6
- Polymorph Self: Duration changed to 1 hour per level
- Power Word Disable: Creatures now have to have 76 hit points or above to be unaffected.
- Power Word Kill: Single target creature with less than 130 hit points are now killed. Area of effect now kills all creatures with 60 or less hit
points up to a maximum of 600 hit points.
- Power Word Petrify: Creatures now have to have 131 hit points or above to be unaffected.
- Power Word Stun: Creatures now have to have 75 or less for 4d4 rounds. 76-125 for 2d4 rounds and 126-200 for 1d4 rounds.
- Scintillating Sphere: damage changed to a maximum of 15d6
- Scorching Ray: Maximum rays raised to 4 reached on level 15.
- Shadow Simulacrum: Duration increased to 18 seconds per level
- Shocking Grasp: damage changed to a maximum of 7d6
- Shout: Sonic damage increased to 7d6
- Shroud of Flame: Damage increased to 3d6 and 3d6 damage every round after that. Damage to others raised to 1d6.
- Stone Body Changed duration to 1 round per level. No longer makes you immune to critical hits. The damage reduction has been changed to
20/Adamantium
- Storm Avatar Changed duration to 1 round pr. 6 Caster Levels.
- Sunburst: Maximum damage increased to 35d6. Non-undead creatures now suffer 10d6 in magical damage.
- Tenser’s Transformation: Duration increased to 30 seconds per level
- True Seeing: Now also gives +10 Spot. Duration reduced to 5 rounds/level
- True Strike: Can now be extended.
- Undeath to Death: Maximum number of HD raised to 30d4
- Undeath’s Eternal Foe: Duration increased to 30 seconds per level.
- Vampiric Touch: damage changed to a maximum of 15d6
- Vitriolic Sphere: damage changed to a maximum of 20d4. Rounds after that are the same as in the normal game.
- Wall of Fire: Damage increased to 3d6 and max Caster level is now 30. Level 30 damage: 3d6+30
- Wall of Greater Dispel Magic: Changed to +20 like Greater Dispel Magic, and duration corrected so that it is actually 60 seconds per level and not
1 round.
- Wall of Dispel Magic: Changed to +15 like Dispel Magic, and duration corrected so that it is actually 60 seconds per level and not 1 round.
- Weird: Creatures with 8 HD or less automatically dies. Creatures that succeed their save takes 6d6 damage.
- Word of Faith: Now instantly kills creatures 12 HD or less. Stuns and blinds HD 13-18 and Blinds HD19 and Higher. Short Range
