Knights of Holy Judgment - Ranks and Organisation

Post by K.Kragh »

The Knights of Holy Judgment functions as a hardcore fanatic and spiritual military order. Do not for a moment think that them being good means that they are merciful or tolerant in nature. An enemy to society and its morals has to be treated as such. One ought to cut off the head of the snake lest it survives, breeds and spreads its poison. Members of the order have the utmost respect for rank, obeying orders and are committed to duty and the cause. The order only accepts Paladins and Clerics and is known for their powerful purity rituals that protects them from hostile infiltration.

Due to its militaristic and orderly structure the order has a clear rank hierarchy. In any given situation it is the member of the order with the highest rank that has command. If two or more members in a party share the highest rank they must immediately decide on which one of them has command for the duration of the mission.

Paladins and Clerics have their own independent rank progression but their ranks still fit into the overall rank hierarchy of the order.

Paladin Ranks:

- Lord Commander
- General
- Captain
- Sergeant
- Knight
- Squire

Cleric Ranks:
- Supreme Father
- High Priest
- Priest
- Acolyte
- Devotee

Overall hierarchy in the order:

- Lord Commander: The Supreme leader of the order. Can only be trialed for his sins by the Supreme Father

- Supreme Father: The head of the Religion. The closest advisor to the Lord Commander. Supreme Judge for trials.

- General: Is trusted to lead armies. He is only outranked by the Supreme Father and the Lord Commander.

- High Priest: The highest rank a priest can have. Is the Supreme Judge in the absence of the Supreme Father. Is high enough ranked to trial the General for his sins.

- Captain: May command military outposts and whole battalions of troops.

- Priest: Can serve as a judge. His rank is high enough to trial the Captain for his sins.

- Sergeant: Leads the Knights and may command villages and smaller cities.

- Knight: A full member of the Order. All Knights are well trained fighters while also educated in the philosophy of Tyr and the order. Are tasked with mentoring squires.

- Acolyte: Having shown his devotion to Tyr he is now mentored by a priest that he serves until he is ready to ascent to priesthood.

- Squire: Squires are tasked with intense martial training as well as education in the faith and the philosophies of the order. They are expected to fight alongside the Knights in combat, which creates a sort of rough natural selection - only the best squires live long enough to become Knights.

- Devotee: The lowest member of the order. Has devoted himself to learn more about Tyr and to serve the members of the order, even the lowly squires.
